National Arts and Culture Fund donates to local artisan
A new electric kiln was handed over to well-known artisan Mickey Arnephy, who specialises in pottery, has received a new electric kiln this week.
The donation is thanks to the National Arts and Culture Fund (NACF) grant, which is in line with its mandate to continuously support the development and promotion of the Seychellois culture.
The electric kiln was handed over to Mr Arnephy in a short ceremony at Domaine de Val des Pres where his studio is located.
Attending the ceremony were the secretary general David Andre of the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts, permanent secretary Cecille Kalebi, members of the institute’s advisory council, NACF committee members and other guests.
The kiln was purchased from the Cape Pottery Supplies in South Africa. Mr Arnephy has expressed his gratitude towards the NACF and all those who have helped.
Mr Arnephy also signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Arts and Crafts Council, represented by its executive director Jimmy Savy. Through this agreement, it will enable young people especially those following the Technical Vocational Education and Training programme.
