FetAfrik…the melting pot of African cultures – From the 25th to the 28th of May 2022

Seychelles will be honouring its ties with the African continent once again through FetAfrik which will be hosted from May 25-28.

FetAfrik coincides with the Africa Day celebrated annually on May 25 which marks the start of the African Union formerly known as the Organisation of the African Unity.

Through FetAfrik, Seychelles is marking a vital part of its history, remembering that Africa is also part of our islands’ melting pot of cultures. Those who came from the mainland Africa also played a great part in building the proud Seychellois nation that we are today.

The FetAfrik 2022 will be officially launched on May 25 and activities for members of the public will start on May 26. All activities this year will be hosted at the National Museum of History and in the Camion Hall garden. These will include the much-loved African Bazaar which will run from May 26-28. Members of the public will get the chance to taste the flavours of Africa through a variety of African dishes on sale and enjoy the sounds of various African cultures through the live entertainment in Victoria. Young and old can even have their hair braided in their desired style and buy souvenirs which will serve as reminders of our African heritage.

A one-hour of moutya by the Fek Arive group will also be on the programme this year, in the Camion Hall garden on May 27.
