Bravo Seychelles! Thrilling cultural performances in Paris

Seychelles proudly showcased its moutya dance and other cultural performances in events held in France from June 21-27. The Seychelles’ delegation headed by the Secretary General of the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts David André arrived back in the country this morning.
Moutya was inscribed in the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) intangible cultural heritage list last year.
Through the invitation from UNESCO, Seychelles seized the chance to promote this unique aspect of its culture, which Mr André has hailed as a success.
People in Paris got the chance to appreciate this part of our culture through various performances from the Seychelles delegation.
The main performance took place on June 27 at the UNESCO’S head office, which Mr André has described as a historical moment for Seychelles.
He added that this is indeed an achievement for our culture.
Mr André also commended the team members for their commitment and discipline, as well as for the spectacular performances in Paris.
“Bravo Seychelles,” he added.
He has echoed words of thanks to all those who have in one way or other made this a success for Seychelles.
Speaking at the airport, dancers Rhonda Labrosse and Ronny Marengo have both described this trip as a chance of a lifetime and that we must keep promoting our moutya.
Honorary cultural ambassador Patrick Victor, who was the artistic director and the production director Jimmy Savy were also part of the Seychelles’ delegation.
