Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta 2022- La Cigale Estate scoops multiple prizes
Mixologist and chefs at La Cigale Estate wow judges
La Cigale Estate, a private exclusive-use estate, with a charming plantation house nested in the middle, has scooped multiple prizes during the three-day Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta.
The establishment is located at Côte d’Or and its chefs and barman left a remarkable impression on the judges from the Seychelles Tourism Academy.
The first competition that the team took part in was the barman one at Mabuya Beach Restaurant, Anse Lazio.
Selwyn Dick, mixologist at La Cigale Estate wowed the judges and clinched the first prize in the shaken category with La Cigale cocktail – and in the stirred category, he won second prize with Anba Langar cocktail.
Sous chef Kevin Rioux and chef de partie Neddy Delcy also made their establishment proud by clinching first prizes in both categories – starter and main course.
Members of the jury used a set of well-defined criteria to choose the best ones and their tasks were not easy ones.
Hotel L’archipel Praslin also wowed the judges in both competitions. Eddi Rinkan won first prize with in the stirred cocktail category in the barman competition with Granzar, a name synonymous with its taste and presentation.
Samuel Suzette won second prize in the culinary competition with a scrumptious starter while his colleague Isuru Lakruwan settled in the third position in the main course category.
Another tourism establishment that took part in the two competitions was Constance Lemuria Praslin Seychelles in the barman competition – second prize in the shaken category with a cocktail called the Seychelles cooler by mixologist Deepak Vishwakarma. The resort has also won third prize in the culinary competition in the fish starter category. The two talented chefs showcasing their culinary skills at the competition were Mukesh Kumar and Lyn Annacoura.
Tucked away at Anse Takamaka Praslin, Raffles Praslin Seychelles also took part in both competitions. Mixologist Sherin Rappai made the resort proud by scooping third prize with Madanm Koket in the stirred cocktail category.
Nigel Brioche and Rannick Ernesta from Les Lauriers Eco Hotel represented the tourism establishment at the culinary competition. The hotel came out in the second position in the main course category.
Mixologist Vignesh Palanisamy from Paradise Sun Hotel took the third prize in the shaken category at the barman competition with his cocktail called Herbal Touch.
Members of the public had the chance to taste some of these cocktails during the fair at Côte d’Or during the weekend.
The culinary competition was held at the Chill Out Tapas Lounge Bar, Côte d’Or.
